NATIONAL INFORMATION CONVENTION Spurring National Development and Empowering Communities through Information
Information is essential to development, and it’s the responsibility of government information officers to effectively communicate timely, relevant, accurate, and truthful information to their stakeholders. Government policy, programs, projects, and services can make a difference in the lives of citizens, especially to those who are marginalized and vulnerable. It’s our role to ensure that they hear, read, and understand our development message, so that they can benefit from it and improve their quality of life. The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) through the Philippine Information Agency, presents the National Information Convention 2018, which will gather public and private sector communicators with the goal of realizing the following objectives:

—> To encourage communicators to model effective and responsible sharing of information and use their platforms to provide information that will improve their audience’s quality of life

—> To strengthen partnership between private and public-sector communicators, with the goal of nurturing a well-informed and enlightened citizenry

—> To organize a movement of communicators that will empower communities by inspiring civic engagement towards nation building

WHO: 1,300 participants consisting of government information officers, members of the academe, local media, communication students, and private sector partners will converge in Davao for the National Information Convention 2018.

WHAT: The National Information Convention 2018 capacitates government information officers from all across the nation, while bringing together communication and technology industries leaders, among influencers from other sectors, as partners for development. We will develop and strengthen these private-public sector partnerships and upgrade our capacities to effectively empower communities through information and bring about social mobilization.
